In 2021 I had the pleasure of working with composer René Merkelbach on his new record label Flexatune Records. This collaboration has so far culminated in 4 different single covers for various artist.
Super broken
René Merkelbach (2021)
As follow-up on his first single Sweven, René Merkelbach has created another gorgeous instrumental track with loads of subtle layers for listeners to discover on repeat listens. To accompany this track René was looking for a heart that was healing.

Hanabi in a bottle
Luie Vuilak (2021)
To accompany Luie Vuilak's second single, Hanabi in a bottle I created this animation and cover of a lucky cat traveling through space. The animation that had to match the beat of the music was something new to me, but a welcome challenge for sure.

Kurayami
Kuona (2021)
Kuona's first single Kurayami was my second collaboration with Flexatune Records. A chillbeat track by Anouk Verdonk for which she wanted a Japanese appearance with a unheimisch feeling. This ended up being a woodblock print with her kat Kees as the main star of the piece.

The Longest Lane
The Hanzo Brothers (2021)
My first collaboration with René and his debut single as The Hanzo Brothers with fellow musician Steffen de Wolff. With this Cover René asked me to tell the story of this song within the cover. Two lovers who can't be together because of their busy lives decide to drop everything they have and leave for a new life together. With all the repercussions that follow their actions. The older look of the cover was to connect it back to the 70's west Coast music scene that inspired the song.
